Lansdowne - a perfect weekend destination, situated in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. It is nicknamed as Kaludaand. Lansdowne got its name from the then viceroy of India i.e Lord Lansdowne. The main purpose of developing Lansdowne was to recruit and train Garhwal rifles. Now also the very famous Garhwal rifles of Indian Army has its regimental centre here.

How to reach Lansdowne?

There are 3 ways to reach Lansdowne:-

i.) If you want to go by road from Delhi then you will have to follow the route via. Meerut,Bijnore, kotdwar and then to Lansdowne. It is around 250 km from Delhi and the quality of roads is excellent.

ii.) If you are planning to go by air, then the nearest airport is Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun at a distance of 152 km from Lansdowne.

iii.) And if you want to go by train then the nearest railway station is Kotdwar.

Things to do in Lansdowne:-

1. ) Trekking :- This small hill station provides you with an umpteen opportunity for hiking. The main tracks include

• Waterworks and Malini Barrage

• Trek from kalal ghati

• Kandoliya devta temple

2. ) War Museum:- The entry fee of war museum is ₹50/person. Timing in summer is from 9am-1pm & 4pm-6pm. Timing in winter is from 8am-12 noon & 3:30pm- 5:30pm.

3. ) Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple:- Situated in extreme silence, the temple bells are the only sound you will get to hear here. It is situated around 35 km from Lansdowne.

4. ) Tip n top view point :- Being situated close to St. Mary's Church, it can also serve as a perfect trek to enjoy beautiful views and photography.

5. ) Bhulla Tal :- Despite being a man- made Lake, Bhulla Tal has the facility of boating. It is surrounded by neat and clean garden and children park.
